Small businesses are struggling presently especially post recession period which has seen a slew of small units declaring bankruptcy. A nationwide study conducted by Equifax recently revealed that the incidences of bankruptcies have more than doubled in 3 of the Californian metro areas in the past 3 years. And this has been going on consistently after recession hit the economy in early 2008. Many small business owners are ruing the absence of profit in the sector. Take the case of Dee Haywood who is struggling to make her Gardena’s D’s Wing Joint turn into a profitable venture. However, the small entrepreneurs are optimistic of a revival. Many feel that the small sector can bounce back from this precarious situation. Besides, most of the small business owners prefer to continue with their businesses even if the profits are meagre. Nancy Ruff, a small business owner, for instance, says that these people hardly have any alternatives. Plus, they relish the prospect of dealing one on one with customers. Mark Quinn, the Acting District Director of Small Business Administration (LA office), believes that the sector is prepared to bounce back with the assistance of financial help from small business loans. Quinn states that SBA is planning to grant greater loans in 2011 in Los Angeles than what has ever been made in any year in history. He also confirms that more loans would be made here in LA than in any other place in the entire US. These financial aids may ease some of the difficulties for the small business owners.
