The story of Sanmar Engineering has been one of repeated success, of sustained growth and expansion and enduring relationships for over 35 years.

The journey began on 1 July 1976 in Durametallic India, the first joint venture with Durametallic Corporation, Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA, a world leader in engineered mechanical seals.

Flowserve Sanmar, BS&B Safety Systems (India), Xomox Sanmar with its two divisions, Xomox Valves and Pacific Valves, Tyco Sanmar, Sanmar Foundries, Matrix Metals and Sanmar Engineering Services are its constituents today. These involve five Indo-American joint ventures in all, each with a world leader in its chosen field.

These are located in Karapakkam, Chennai, Viralimalai, Trichy and Iowa, USA and Mexico.

Flowserve Sanmar, formerly Durametallic India, is the market leader in engineered mechanical sealing devices, offering a wide choice for the industry including petrochemical, power, chemical, food and pharmaceutical markets.

BS&B Safety Systems (India) meets almost all of India's domestic requirement of rupture disks. Its rupture disks serve the critical requirements of the Indian Space Research Programme, the Indian nuclear power programme, and Bhavini, maker of the country’s first fast breeder reactor and the major Indian power OEMs. 

Xomox Sanmar which offers Xomox valves and Pacific valves is an important base in the Asia Pacific region for sourcing fluorocarbon-lined and sleeved plug valves. It also offers a range of high pressure valves catering to power stations and process industries for operations in severe service conditions.

Tyco Sanmar offers a whole series of pressure relief valves, accessories and solutions.  In addition to the complete range of Crosby pressure relief valves, the Tyco Sanmar repertoire also includes the Anderson Greenwood range of pilot operated pressure relief valves. 

Sanmar Engineering's foundry business, the Group's effort to meet its own requirements of intricate valve castings, today comprises Sanmar Foundries located in Viralimalai, India, and Matrix Metals LLC, USA, which it acquired as part of its internationalization effort. It is a major producer of steel castings in the world serving the needs of the Industrial Valve, Railroad, Construction and Mining industries.

Sanmar Engineering Services undertakes comprehensive maintenance contracts, encompassing systems, Sanmar-manufactured equipment, bought-out instrumentation and other third party hardware. Its countrywide network of service and repair centres and on-site operations is staffed by qualified technicians and engineers.

Sanmar Engineering is also instrumental in bringing to India world class technology for process instrumentation hardware, such as control valves, solenoid valves and precision load cells through joint ventures with world leaders like Fisher, Asco and Vishay. While Sanmar has now exited these ventures for strategic business reasons, they continue to serve the Indian market. The relationships between Sanmar and its erstwhile partners are as warm and cordial as before.
