BPL has said that it has launched a new range of solar products and is working with micro-finance institutions for the solar needs of rural consumers. A press release said BPL has acquired the latest design and technologies available, both in the lighting source and storage device by replacing the CFL lights with LED-based lights and lead acid batteries with nickel metal hydride and lithium ion batteries. The statement said its StudyLite lamp has won the Red Dot Product Design Award under the Lighting category in Essen, Germany. The product was designed and manufactured completely in India. “BPL StudyLite was born as a solution to address the need for ‘uninterrupted lighting', an attempt to provide solution to the widespread problem of power outages in India,” said the BPL Techno Vision Pvt Ltd Chief Operating Officer, Mr K. Gopi. The company also plans to revamp its product portfolio by introducing newer products in the renewable energy category. |
