New portal to help auto component industry launched
by Radha Rao on October 8th 2010 and filled under Information Technology

With the Indian auto industry trying to come to terms after two years of slowdown and slowly limping back to normalcy, a web portal solely dedicated to the industry can be the best thing to happen. Industry stalwarts are of the opinion that although there was was good demand for auto components/parts, the manufacturers were unable to connect with the right buyer.

To do away with this hurdle, a new web portal to bridge the gap between Indian suppliers and global buyers was launched recently. The portal, automobileindustryindia.com, will cater to automobile industry players in India and abroad.

”The main aim of this portal is to help exporters, suppliers & manufacturers of auto parts, auto accessories and components from India showcase their products to global buyers and importers”, said the CEO of
automobileindustryindia.com.

The portal also carries comprehensive information on global automobile trade shows and latest news and updates from the automobile industry.

If we look at the automobile export sector, in the wake of rise in demand in European markets, the country's total vehicle export is likely to increase by up to 15 percent in the current fiscal. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the overall vehicle export from India grew by 17.90 percent at 18,04,619 units in the last financial year, while the same stood at 15,30,594 units in 2008-09.

This is indeed good news for auto parts manufacturers because more demand for vehicles would mean that auto-makers will be looking to source more parts from the best of companies in the sector.

“We want Indian SMEs to grow and generate maximum business through the internet medium and I feel automobileindustryindia.com will go a long way in providing an ideal platform for manufacturers and suppliers in automobile industry to do business at the global level”, he further added.

Going by what Auto Component Manufacturers Associations (ACMA) has to say that the Indian auto component industry is witnessing an unprecedented rise in demand for auto parts as the automobile industry recorded growth lately, it means that the auto component industry will have to work overtime to meet the rising demand in the potential markets.

The web portal is divided into three sections namely; products, suppliers and trade shows. Users can browse or search for products and their suppliers, send multiple business inquiries to listed suppliers. The whole information has been divided into categories and sub-categories like auto accessories, automotive parts & components et al.

“The website is targeted to Indian SMEs involved in auto parts and accessories production. With the auto industry growing every year, the demand for auto parts manufacturers will also increase and our portal will fulfill that demand,” said the CEO.

The portal also gives you detailed information about different categories and sub-categories and any supplier from the automobile industry can list their company on the website, free of cost.
