Ek Titli is an organization that was started in January 2010 by two friends Bhavik Kaul and Vaibhav Dugar as an initiative to raise environmental awareness amongst the common man. Says Dugar, “Everyday we realize we want to connect to the environment, but that is something we are just not able to do. So we felt need for such an organization not to just commit to the cause directly, but also convince others to do so too.” Today keeping in mind these aims, the organisation has active chapters in Pune and Bengaluru, and a healthy number of successful undertakings to its credit.

On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, the organization launched its flagship publication – "Ek Titli". This online magazine is an eco life-style magazine covering the entire ambit from Travel & Adventure, Food, Green Living , Photography, Clean and Green Technology / Gadgets, Eco themed resorts and of course Nature – all keeping with the theme of sustainable solutions to the environmental problems we face.

Akshad Vishwanathan, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine tells, “Contemporary environmental content has often been seen to have a negative ‘doomsday’ connotation attached to it. This makes people feel disconnected and helpless when it comes to preserving the environment. Ek Titli (the organization) envisions this magazine as a tool to reverse this. It aims to connect people with the environment in a way which seems possible and practical with a ‘feel-good’ factor to boot.”

In line with this aim, the first step of Ek Titli is to sensitize the urban population the importance of achieving a balance between nature and modern lifestyle and finding feasible solutions to mitigate the effects of global warming. Ek Titli also lays emphasis on visual content by championing photo-journals from various talented landscape and urban culture photographers. “To put it briefly, the magazine wants to get the right information out there to people who are interested in it, in a simple and engaging manner; which makes the reader feel positive and inspired to do his/her bit for Mother Nature,” adds Vishwanath.
