Success culture in a business unit is often referred to as something that comes at a slower pace than gradual and after plenty of stumbles and setbacks. However, with more and more business units, including SMEs, endeavouring to cultivate success culture in office, the time is not far when small units too will stand to personify their achievements. The process of cultivating success culture, wherein entrepreneurs are required to set certain disciplinary measures for themselves as well as their employees is one of the most inexpensive methods to steer a business towards greater productivity. Ideally an entrepreneur should inculcate such measures while starting the company so as to avoid any form of attrition in the company in terms of finance, human resource, clients or customers or even in product/service quality. In this context, Deepak Sharma, owner of Accrete Infotech Private Limited, a small-sized IT solutions provider in New Delhi, says, “It is easy to achieve success when a person has passion for his/her work because people perform better when work is fun for them instead of an errand. A business owner should essentially try to recruit people who are passionate about the unit’s field of work to ensure continuous enhancement of service and success.” An SME owner should also try to develop a sense of pride among its employees towards the company so that the employees are satisfied with their job profile and are willing to put in extra efforts to help the unit record higher profit margins. According to Abhishek Tripathi, owner of Tripathi Designs Private Limited, a small-sized unit in Lucknow, which manufactures and supplies chikankari garments, “An SME owner should lead as an example by exuding positive qualities such as punctuality, leadership and responsibility so as to inspire others. Also, standing up for employee rights and celebrating success together goes down well to promote success culture in business units,” he says. Besides boosting the SME business, success culture is often instrumental in bringing in goodwill, a fixed asset, for a company. |
