Whirpoool plans to expand its portfolio

Whirlpool, home appliances company, is planning to make its foray in kitchenware segment. The company is also looking forward to increase its share in air-conditioner and microwave product categories also up to 12 % each and 18% in washing machine category.
The company acquires 22% market share in the refrigerator category, 17 % in washing machines, 8% in microwave and 4% in air-conditioners.
To make substantial presence in kichenware category, the company is planning to broach free-standing dishwashers in the next coming years. 
In order to ensure strong back-end activities, Whirlpool is strategising on strong distribution network by launching more brand exclusive stores by 2011. Currently, it owns 30 exclusive stores.
