CHANDIGARH: The Northern India power Engineers federation (NIPEF) has condemned the proposal for giving the creamy industrial area to private firms through franchises, particularly in Panipat, Gurgaon in Haryana and Kanpur other identified areas of Uttar Pradesh. Mr HS Bedi, secretary general of NIPEF, has said the sell out of high revenue earning areas would drive the public sector distribution companies into accelerated bankruptcy and directly impact not only the finances but also power supply to the rural areas and agriculture. The monthly revenue earnings of Gurgaon is Rs 132 crore whereas total monthly earnings of Dakshin Haryana Vidhyut Bitran Nigam is Rs 312 crore. Similarly total monthly revenue of Uttar Haryana Vidhyut Bitran Nigam is Rs 210 crore and Panipat is contributing Rs 37 crore. |
