| Kolkata SME plea on power tariff hike | |

A number associations of small and medium industries have sought the intervention of the West Bengal government to protect the SMEs from the impact of recent rise in power tariffs in the State. In a press release issued Hooghly Chamber of Commerce described the hike as one of the steepest in history. According to the associations, the recent hike had made power consumption of SMEs a costlier proposition than that in the neighboring Orissa. |
